ASIAN ROMAINE LETTUCE WRAPS

Ingredients

  • 1 lb organic ground turkey

  • 1 bunch chopped green onion

  • 1 finely chopped red pepper

  • 1 cup chopped red onion

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seed oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 bunch chopped cilantro

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

  • 3 tablespoons coconut aminos

  • sesame seed oil

  • romaine lettuce leaves (washed)

  • 2 cups cooked thai jasmine rice

  • Optional: 2 teaspoon of minced serrano pepper

  • Optional: sesame seeds

Prep

  • While you are waiting for rice to set, wash all fruit and leaves thoroughly, be sure to pat dry fresh basil and romaine lettuce and set aside.

  • Chop green onion, red onion, cilantro and basil.

  • Finely chop red pepper.

  • Gather all of your ingredients and make sure they are in arms length for a smooth cooking experience.

Instructions

  • In medium size pan add 1 tablespoon sesame seed oil and sprinkle sea salt and pepper then place ground turkey on top.

  • Flattened and spread out over pan on medium heat for 3 mins.

  • Flip and chop after 3 minutes, then add red pepper, green onion, red onion, then cook for another three minutes or until turkey is light brown in color. Stirring occasionally.

  • Add a little sesame seed oil to mixture then add basil and cilantro, and cook on medium heat for three minutes. Stir occasionally.

  • Reduce to low heat and add coconut aminos and sauté for two minutes. If you have elected to add the Serrano pepper incorporate it into mixture.

  • Remove from heat and set aside.

  • Grab a piece of romaine lettuce and layer with Thai jasmine rice and the ground turkey mixture.

  • Top with sesame seeds, serve and enjoy!
